And He's Relational.

It really is hard to believe this. Medical professionals say there are over 60,000 miles of blood vessels, arteries and veins in the circulatory system of the human body. 60,000 miles. How can that even be? You'd think we would all explode if it were true. Every time I think that's a myth, I do a little research and the number pops up again. 60,000 miles. It's 24,901 miles around the earth. The vessel network inside your human body could wrap around the circumference of the earth almost two and half times. Is that not crazy to think about? Can you imagine the intricacy of 60,000 miles of vessels being traced out in your body. It seems like it would be virtually impossible to search that route of vessels out.

Bible book of Romans, chapter 11, verse 33. "Oh the depths of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable His judgments and His paths beyond tracing out." Beyond tracing out. It is so much that there is no way to exhaust this path. We would trace for eternity, which interestingly, amazingly is what we are and will get to do. The impossibility will turn into our eternal reality. We'll lap 60,000 miles to infinity and the tracing will be tethered to the King that the paths are leading to.

Jonathan Edwards, a pastor from another era, noted what he saw as marks of potential times of reviving among groups of God's people. Greater regard for the Word of God. Growing esteem for the beauty of Jesus. Increased interest in theology and doctrine. Discernible presence of repentance. Evidenced love for God and neighbor. Really? Theology and doctrine made the list? Yes, but it is actually the relational God that is on the list here. Theology and doctrine become this grid of essential truths that we orient our lives around that flow from the essence of the glory of God. This does not sound dull to me. This is why.

The words of God are telling us that He is....

Independent

Unchangeable

Eternal

Omnipresent

A unity

Spirit

Invisible

Omniscient

Wise

Truthful

Good

Love

Holy

Righteous

Just

Jealous

Wrathful to sin

Wills what He wills

Omnipotent

Perfect

Beautiful

Knowable

Free

Exists

As we trace out who God says He is and what He is like in His Word gift to us, we become aware, "Oh my. ALL OF THESE THINGS attributed to Him AT THE SAME TIME! How can it be? You know this. If you or someone else could have even 1 or 2 of these things meaningfully, effectually attributed to us as truly who we are, it would be staggering how amazing that would be. GOD IS ALL OF THESE BEYOND TRACING OUT!

But keep going.

AND HE'S RELATIONAL!

Surely, even just this short list of 24 things, would make whomever or whatever they are being attributed to stuffy, snobby, arrogant, unaccessible, non-feeling, unapproachable and not interested in being approached. They would not want you. Not so. He is ALL, ALL, ALL, ALL these things and more AND He is relational with you.

The God who IS all of these things came to serve and one main way that He serves is by being relational with you. Now that is beyond tracing out.
