Blood Battle

Lea struck a match this morning and declared that the colossal blast that took place in Beirut yesterday could have detonated with something as small as that struck match. As footage began to circulate of the blast in Lebanon, you saw a large, white plume already expanding skyward and then the colossal, crimson detonation engulfed your view.

We talked about both sides of the flickering match. One small spark can spark massive destruction. And, one small spark can spark glorious, transformative movement of the living God.

Tucked in this normal Wednesday of laundry, lunch, to-do lists and living is this dramatic, crimson unfolding. I can hear a slight mocking voice just now. "You're a romantic Damon. You over dramatize." Shut up. A blood battle is always dramatic. And tucked down in the heart of this supernatural Wednesday, I believe it would seem cheap if it there wasn't as much on the line as there is. Singer Seal penned this line. "Feels like the world's at stake." It is. Papa says it is. What is the crimson drama about if not that? Glory and hearts. His glory and our hearts. I want it to be worth the drama. Feels like our hearts are at stake.

I love my friend Parke. His life and music impact me deeply. On his Wishful Thinking EP is the song "Reaching". The first time I listened to it, I was so drawn in by the blood battle. Parke is telling us about the dramatic, blood battle. Not many songs do that, honestly.
