F.O.G.
Trey is home from college. Covenant has closed campus for the rest of the school year. He will join the many who are online learning as the year closes. He went back to campus on Monday to help a friend pack up and move some things to storage. He was coming back to Beacon Hall later on Monday night. It was REALLY foggy. To be honest, I haven't seen fog like the fog on Signal Mountain before. You literally can't see 5 feet in front of you. Lea texted Trey just tell him to be aware as he drove home that the fog was really thick on the mountain.
It's foggy.
Alarmist or not, it's really hard to wrap your mind around the extent of the global trouble that is happening. It's hard to imagine how this might "wrap up". I think we are naturally bent towards hard things "wrapping up".
It's foggy.
A lot is piling up together.
Droplets of mucus.
Arrogance.
Lots of deaths.
Ventilators.
Children at home.
No graduation.
Drive through test sites.
Businesses crashing.
Nursing home quarantine.
Entire nation lockdowns.
Country posturing.
Lots more deaths.
Worldwide uncertainty.
Unstable financial markets.
Myriad of speculation.
It's foggy. And at times the fog seems vast. And vastness takes those in relationship with Jesus in a different direction. A different F.O.G.
Bible book of Romans. Chapter 11. Verses 33 through 36.
"Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen."
Bible book of Ephesians. Chapter 3. Verses 17-19.
"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
This is all I want to say to my heart today. And yours. The vast fog is not more than the F.O.G....Fullness of God.
A lot is piling up together.
Oh the depth.
How unsearchable.
Paths beyond tracing out.
From Him. Through Him. For Him.
Glory forever.
Grasping how wide.
Grasping how long.
Grasping how high.
Gasping how deep.
Love that surpasses knowledge.
Being filled with the vastness of God.
This seems valuable for today. While we are primarily away from one another....POWER TOGETHER WITH ALL THE LORD'S HOLY PEOPLE.
That you, that we may be filled to the measure of ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD.
This is a vastness that we cannot even begin to comprehend. It swallows up fog.
The fullness of God.
