"One thing I ask of the Lord, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord...."
"My heart says of you, Seek His face. Your face, Lord, I will seek..."
(Book of the Bible, Psalm, chapter 27, verses 4 and 8)
Gaze on the beauty of the Lord. How often do I?
The face of the Lord Jesus. Am I drawn there?
Gaze on the beauty of the face of the Lord Jesus.
I don't really want to move on from this. Maybe that's what gazing is. Not sure I have really done a lot of this in my life. Always battle over you and I gazing on the beauty of Jesus.
We're so busy.
Gazing isn't productive. It's fruitful. We're hell bent towards productivity. Gazing at the beauty of Jesus bends us towards new heaven and new earth. That's where the gazing consummates.
The Christmas story in the gospel of John. Chapter 1, verse 14. "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." The next words are, "we have seen His glory..." This was the first glimpse of the beauty of face to face with Jesus. The first gazing....specific people got to gaze into the face of Jesus. And now, we who didn't see His face are longing for it. Are we? Am I?
Book of the Bible, Hebrews, chapter 12, verse 2. "We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be His, He endured the agony of the cross..."
There was a joy that was present in Jesus enduring the agony of the cross. What was it? So we can fasten our gaze onto Jesus.
