Will Ferrell the prayer warrior?

I didn't watch the movie Elf one time this past Christmas season. How did that happen? I laugh out loud a lot when I watch Will Ferrell in Elf. I'm a sucker for a good Christmas movie. One of my favorite scenes that captures Buddy's child like wonder is when he waits outside of Michael's school until Michael gets out. When Buddy sees Michael he yells to ask him to wait up for him. When Buddy catches up to Michael, with Michael kind of a bit weirded out that this "Elf" is following him around, Buddy says 79 words in rapid fire succession. He is just so excited to see Michael, has been waiting on him for 5 hours, and is just generally so very delighted to get to talk to him. The 79 words are basically all, for the most part, things he wants to tell Michael about his day and questions. He just keeps telling and asking Michael things.

"Michael! Michael! Michael! Michael, wait up! Michael! Michael! Wow, you're fast. I'm glad I caught up with you. I waited five hours for you. Why is your coat so big? So, good news... I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework, huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?"

I want to talk to God, tell Him things, ask Him questions. I really do. And all hell stands opposed to it happening. For you to.

I have been thinking about these words that I read in the bible book of Isaiah chapter 62 verses 6 and 7. "I have posted watchmen on your walls O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord give yourselves no rest and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth."

Wow. I just want to pause and take it in. You who call on the Lord (that can be any of us who love Him)...Give yourselves no rest (we give ourselves no rest for so many silly, unimportant, if not evil things, why not this?)....and give him (our Lord God) no rest until he does this thing (establishes Jerusalem). Wow. Pretty bold. Don't let up on talking to Him until He does it. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking.

I give up so easy.

He doesn't.

My heart burns.

There's more.
